Einleitung

The Leibniz Centre for Archaeology (LEIZA), a member of the Leibniz Association, is a globally active archaeological research institute and museum with its headquarters in Mainz and additional sites in Neuwied, Mayen and Schleswig. Since its foundation in 1852, the museum has been dedicated to the material legacy of three million years of human history with the aim of understanding human behaviour and actions as well as the development and transformation of societies.

For our Department of Pleistocene and Early Holocene Archaeology in Schleswig (Germany), we seek to immediately fill

a position in Late Upper Palaeolithic, Late Palaeolithic, and Mesolithic Archaeology

(EG 13 TV-L, full-time or part-time )

To this end, the LEIZA maintains in addition to laboratories for archaeological sciences, traceology, and restoration a variety of research infrastructures, including collections, one of the largest specialist libraries for archaeology in Europe, and extensive archives. This infrastructure supports research, teaching, and knowledge transfer at national and international levels. As a Leibniz-Research Museum, knowledge transfer via publications, events, exhibitions, and educational programs forms a central part of the LEIZA working program.

Aufgaben


  • independent planning and execution of research projects and excavations in Late Upper Palaeolithic, Late Palaeolithic and Mesolithic Archaeology
  • applications for third-party funding
  • publications in peer-reviewed journals
  • active participation in international conferences
  • contribution to outreach activities of the institute 



Profil

 

You have a doctoral degree in Palaeolithic/Mesolithic Archaeology, a track record on innovative approaches to the field, and a strong record in publications in peer-reviewed journals as first author.

The ideal candidate has a strong focus on field archaeology, experience in third-party research projects, and collaboration in international excavations. Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and coordination skills are needed. Experience in teaching and knowledge of German would be desirable.
